BURLINGTON, NC – Two long-time practicing attorneys in Alamance have partnered to form a new law firm in Burlington, NC.
Business advisor Dorn Pittman and family and real estate advisor Tom Steele, formerly of Wishart, Norris, Henninger & Pittman, have opened Pittman & Steele, PLLC at 1698 Westbrook Ave. in Burlington, NC. The firm focuses on business counsel, real estate and family law. Also joining the firm are attorneys Joe Kalo, Kathleen Treadwell, and Jill Starling Britt.
“Wishart Norris was a wonderful place to work,” Pittman said, “but it had grown so much over the years. Tom and I realized that we really missed the small-office environment. We talked it over and decided it was time for a new chapter. The timing just felt right.”
On the business side, Pittman & Steele will help with contracts, business formation, leases, buy/sell, succession, syndication, planning and more. Pittman, a practicing attorney since 1977, will continue to advise his former clients and is welcoming new businesses in need of legal counsel. He received a B.A. in Business Administration, an MBA and a law degree from Wake Forest University. Pittman is also a CPA.
Steele will head up the real estate and family counsel side of the law firm, including estate planning, trusts, guardianships, asset protection and residential and commercial real estate. Steele received his law degree from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1987. He is a CPA and earned the CCIM Designation in 2008.
Also joining the firm are paralegals Sharon Dent, Diane Mays, and receptionist Peggy Stallings.
Both Pittman and Steele are Burlington natives. “I grew up here, became an Eagle Scout here, go to church here, have family here,” Steele said. “To be able to help businesses and families in this county and the surrounding area is simply a dream come true.”
